About Me

I am a happily retired amateur card maker who lived in South Florida for nearly 42 yrs; then we moved to Upstate South Carolina. I've made so many lovely friends with this post-retirement hobby. I am married to my DH & best friend of 54+years. We have one daughter (DD), who fosters & adopts greyhounds. At the moment she has 3 greys, our granddogs.  I hope you will enjoy the things I post here. In 2012 I started a blog to  monitor my card making skills over time (copic coloring, card layouts & designs). Learning new things helps to keep the brain functioning, or so I am told. I would enjoy seeing your comments/suggestions on what I post).  I enjoy copic coloring & learning to use the airbrush for copics; I dabble with watercoloring, colored pencils and many other things. As in Jack of all Trades, Master of None! I've been inspired in all these areas by some very talented friends and some good teachers. UPDATE: Since starting this blog, I've met so many new card makers in blogland. They have not only inspired me tremendously but have been unfailingly supportive, encouraging, generous with help & advice, and it's been such a blessing to my life. We see so much sadness, violence, dishonesty & just plain old meanness in the news today, that it has reaffirmed my belief in the basic goodness of the human soul to have had this great generosity extended to me through these bloggers.  Thanks to all who take the time to visit here and leave a comment.
UPDATE Jan-2-2021: DH and my best friend ever left for his Heavenly home on 6-30-20. He died one day after my 76th birthday and 12 days before our 57th wedding anniversary. I miss him so very much, but I am thankful that God saw fit to take him out of the misery he had been in. I know he's at peace and with people he loved long before he met me, but still, it's so empty without him. He said I had to go on living for the both of us, and to be happy, that he would never leave me. I believe that to be so.

  9. Hi Mary, thank you for becoming a follower of my blog. As you see I have returned the favour and look forward to seeing all your new creations!

A few years ago John and I had a great holiday in the Deep South - we tend to keep off the major roads and so found some fabulous places to visit.

  11. Hi MaryH, Thanks for thinking of me and leaving your nice post on my About Me page on my blog.

It's still rather a blur. Have so much to do each day I've not had time to think, which is perhaps good.

Once the funeral is over and the bungalow empty I will have a lot more time to fill. Think it will really hit me then.

I am already thinking of things I could do. I could maybe volunteer at one of the many charity shops, or maybe the hospital. Also keeping an eye out for groups I could go to. Want to take up swimming as well. Not too bothered about doing more until the New Year.

There's a new Fibromyalgia/CFS support group starting in the next village next Tuesday and I am hoping to get to that.

Also next year I will seriously consider having a second Greyhound. So sorry your DD lost two to cancer. It does seem to be something Greys suffer with.

Well life goes on, even if it has to change.

Thanks again for stopping by. Sending you hugs Sue

  12. Ahhhh, South Carolina. I lived in Charleston for 2 years while working on my bachelor's degree and hubby was in the navy stationed in North Charleston. One of my fondest memories: Folly Beach. We went there one Saturday and it was low tide coming in and sand dollars were floating in the water and were all over the sand everywhere. I still have a small shoe box of them and that was in 1975-1977!!!! So nice to meet you!
