Merry Christmas

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Another Scheduled post, and welcome, welcome. I hope you are fortunate enough to be able to spend this very special day with those you love. I thought I'd share some of the cards that we mailed.  The image is by Elizabeth Craft, colored of course, with Copics. Mats are S/B dies, with other dies as well. Papers are from paper packs that are in the stash.  I hope you'll enjoy seeing these, and wish I could have sent a cardinal card to each one of you who are so kind to visit & leave such wonderful encouraging comments.

God Bless you all, send you a perfect day with your loved ones, and fill the coming year with all the things that you are needing, be it better health, or whatever it is to make your life happy & fulfilled.

Big hugs - from my Family & me to You & Your Family.

PSX Cardinal Wreath

Hi & welcome to another scheduled post. I noticed some blog follower numbers changed. Don't know if I lost 2 followers or if Blogger is up to its tricks again. Is this happening to anyone else???

On to the card, which is for DH. He likes cardinals too.

PSX image stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black, colored with copics. This was fun to color, trying to choose greens for the foliage so as to give the wreath some texture & dimension. Always enjoy coloring the cardinals. Added a jeweled-candy cane stick on, then wished I had left it off. Oh well.

Die cut with S/B Classic Circle, green mat with the matching sized scalloped circle.

- Recollection Christmas papers for the background and border. Kept it simple as it was getting down to the wire for having DH a special card ready. Decided to leave off another sentiment, since the background has the words on it.

Ya'll have a great day. Big Hugs and lots of Christmas Blessings.

A Rose

Hi & welcome, appreciate you dropping by. This will be a scheduled post done prior to our trip, so by the time you read this, we hope to be in sunny warm South Florida.

Recently a friend lost her beloved husband, and we wanted to express our condolences. Here's the card:

- Image is by Stampendous (but until I looked at the manufacturer, I thought it was a PSX rose. I have one of those, but this one jumped in my hand). Stamped in Memento Gray Flannel, colored with copics using YR & R family colors. I was trying to replicate a pretty rose variety that we saw in the gardens at Hyde Park (FDR's home) many years ago. Used a BV000 and BV01 in places to darken & shadow outline.

- Sue Wilson Nobel Rectangle pierced die, sponged the edge with DI Wilted Violet and Seedless Preserves.

- Bazzill textured pale lavender for the card base, scored edges with the Scor-Pal.

- Elizabeth Craft sentiment die, 2 layers of white snippets; colored both layers with WofLuna purple. That seemed too dark at first, so used WoS clear over that. That seemed to wash out the opaque Luna to nearly the shade of the cardbase, so just touched another layer of the Luna over it. Usually lose the 'eye dot', so a tiny white pearl colored with the same Luna is tucked atop the eye. The card has been sent on its way, and I hope the recipient will know we were thinking of her.

Ya'll enjoy the hustle and bustle that seems inevitable this time of year, and be safe & healthy. I'm hearing there plenty of cases of flu around. We recently were advised to get the super-duper pneumonia shot, even though we've had the 1st shot, then a booster some years later. Our doctor suggested this latest one might be good to get, so we did. Hope it works!

Thanks for coming, have a grand day. Blessings!

Dog Candy Bone

Good afternoon, and hope that Monday before Christmas has been a pleasant day, with last minute chores all being done to your satisfaction.

This is another scheduled post. While away, I won't be posting cards (well, none that I'm making anyway). When we travel, I usually take the copic bag (which is a large scrapbook bag that DH bought me years ago, and it's bulky with all the copic wallets inside it). Decided to take the Zig w/color markers along & practice watercoloring too...but not taking other supplies to make cards. I'll try to pop in occasionally with a little post.

OK...here's today's card, which is for DD. She will be getting a 'pretty' card as well, but since she's a big dog lover(and since I can't find greyhounds - which is the breed of choice) - this is just a hound. But cute. Bought the cling rubber at Stampaway last summer, and found that a wood block of this same image lives in the stamp drawer. It's made by another company however. So probably the wood mount will find a new home.

Whipper Snapper Designs red cling Dog Candy Bone - stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa, colored with copics, WoS, die cut with S/B Classic Oval. Mat is S/B Crown Ovals, which I'm not certain is still available. It's not a die that I use much, but it seemed to work with this goofy dog's look.

- Background stripe dp is from an old 12x12 Christmas pack - a piece left from another project, and the border stripes were from a recent purchase at Michael's - Recollections 3 for $10. 25 sheets of loose Christmas cardstock. Used a Memory Box set of stitched borders to cut this.

- HLS Mixed Christmas Sentiments  stamped with SU Regal Red, die cut with a S/B label. Called it done!

Enjoy your day, and be safe if you're out shopping. Big Hugs.

DeeDee's Digis - Birdie's Snow Day

Good afternoon, and as you read this, we are hopefully on the way to Florida to spend the holidays with our DD & SIL. This is a scheduled post, but once we've arrived, get the laptop hooked up, I'll try to catch up with visiting.  Our area of Upstate South Carolina got a bit brisker weather-wise on Saturday, even though it was sunny. The wind was screeching round the house corners and the mild temps dropped sharply on Friday night. So it will be lovely to be in the warm climate of Sunny Florida (we hope!)

Here's the card for today:

DeeDee's Digi Birdie's Snow Day and when I saw this cute digi, I knew it would come to Mama! Bet you can guess why. Used the pre-colored image, added a few touches of shading, die cut with a S/B classic Circle,  some 'snow' (Stickles with SnS Twinkling Clouds. Fussy cut a 2nd Birdie to pop up over the main image, as well as the perch.  Added a bit of dimension.

- Blue twig paper from a $2.50 6x6 pack found at A C Moore (one of our local box stores). This was left from the earlier card shown here. The curved pieces (Snippets!) were left from that card, so just popped these top & bottom over the twig paper, and liked the effect.

- Snowflakes were snippets from the same project..so that's a bit of debris cleaned off the desk!

- Sentiment is from the same digi set and die cut with a S/B ribbon tag die. Easy Peasy!

Don't forget about the DeeDee's Digi shop closing, and lose out on the 75% off the designs! There's lots of occasions designs to browse through, and this is a wonderful time to get some of them. Expect you are busy with last minute Christmas chores, so I hope you can take a few moments during the day - to remember what the holiday really is all about. Thanks for popping it. Big hugs & Happy Sunday

DeeDee's Here Comes Christmas

Good Morning...Happy Saturday, and on the count-down to the big Day. We are scurrying around with last minute tasks, so that we can be ready to leave in the early am tomorrow. Before we get to the card, let me give a big Welcome Shoutout to a new follower: Gerrina of Gerrina's Creatieve Wereld. Thanks so much for becoming a a new friend, and I hope all who visit here, might take a few moments to pop over to say Hey to Gerrina and enjoy her blog.

Finished up a few cards last night, so doing some scheduled posts along with today's share:

DeeDee's Digi Here Comes Christmas. DeeDee's Digis will be closing as of December 31, so you might want to hasten over there and pick up some really adorable digis at fantastic prices. (75% off!).
If you're like me, you're always sorry when you miss a good buy.

This cute digi was precolored, but I used some of the Pentel Slicci metallic pens on the horse reins & harness, the trim on the penguin's hat and basically that's all that was done to this cutie. Die cut with a S/B die (forget which one but if you want to know, I can supply the name). Added some Stickles Star Dust around on the snow, then sprinkled that while wet, with Sparkle n Sprinkle's Twinkling Cloud which is my favorite 'snow'.

die cut 2 sizes of Snowflakes from American Craft glitter paper. Forgot to use the Sizzix Precision Plate for cutting intricate dies. This paper had a sort of 'plastic backing' on it, so even though many passes were done with the Big Shot, the scissors still had to be used on some of the bits.

MFT curved die for the white bottom area, and the snowflake paper at the top is from a $2.50 6x6 pack that I got recently. Oh yeah, I needed more paper.

Do be sure to check out DeeDee's Digis to see the Anything But Christmas Challenge that is currently going on. And don't forget to check on this wonderful sale.

Thanks for joining me today. Big Merry Christmas Hugs.

Christmas Card Club - Penguins

Good Morning and Happy Sunday. Today is our 25th and final Club Challenge for 2015, and is an Anything Goes challenge, chosen by our Zoe T of Stamping Scene. Let's get right on with it, shall we?

Since it's a busy time of year for all of us, I'll skip the product details, and say the image was colored with copics, WoS, used S/Binders dies, Impression Obsession small snowflakes, an embossing folder, and that's it! If there is anything specific you'd like to know about the card, leave me a comment and I'll do my best to answer.

We hope to leave for our daughter's soon, so trying to get things done around here for the year's end. I expect it's pretty much the same at your house, with the upcoming holiday. We had a nice tour of the Ikea Store, and got some more Alex cabinets. Be back soon to share some of the lovely cards we've received from some of our so-talented & so-generous Blog Friends.

Do have a wonderful day - it's sunny & pleasant here. Porch swing is down and covered for the season. We've had some amazingly lovely weather.

Do please check out what my fellow Christmas Card Club members have shared - it's always awesome - and their links can be find on the right hand sidebar! Big Hugs and be safe in all the hustle bustle that is everywhere this time of year. Thanks for your visit.

Birthday Truck

Hi, and thanks for popping in for a visit today. It's been quiet here of late, but I'm busy with other things just at the moment. First, please say hello to a new friend, Lia of ...Lia's Design and so...... Always happy when I find a new face in the followers' list, and enjoy getting to know a fellow cardmaker. I hope you'll look in on Lia's blog, and say hi to her when you can! Thanks.

Now a card that nearly didn't get made, 'cause I was busy with Christmas stuff. The image was colored, on the desk, but I let the time slip up on me. So the card will probably arrive late...oh well.

 - CC Designs Gone Fishing image, colored with copics, some WoS, and glossy accents on the windows & water. More about the Glossy in a bit. DH liked the way the rusty truck turned out. I did too. The card is for our best friend who lives up in New England, has a truck, likes to fish.

Diecut the image with an MFT Xstitched  rectangle(99127), which cuts a frame & then there is the center piece separate. Who knew? I'd never used this die previously I guess, cause I was just expecting to get the image stamped out with stitching around the edges. Found a previously created background that looked ok with the colors of the truck scene. Recut from black c/s & glued down the black frame. Then added more glue & some adhesive to the back of the center piece, and carefully fitted into the frame. I liked the effect, just surprised when die cutting revealed there were 2 shapes! Now there is a frame that came from the truck motif - if I remember I have it!

- S/Binders tag cut from a white snippet a sentiment from HLS Fun Birthday Sentiments with a Memento Espresso Truffle (brown) ink pad. It looked too 'white' so did a little edge smudge with the same ink. Probably should have used a cream c/s, but the white snippet was handy!

During the organizational effort, found 3 large bottles of glossy accents..dunno how long I've had them OR how long these had been on the store shelves either. The small needle nose bottle I use, needed some added, so glopped in some, from one of the bottles. Used this glossy accents as usual on the water, windows...looked fine. Next morning, after drying, the effect looks a bit 'crazed', not smooth as usual. I don't know if this happened because the product is old (I know that it can yellow when it dries, because I've had that happen, and this stuff is supposed to dry clear). I did nothing different, but got a different effect when it was dry. It was ok on this particular image, but I might not be so happy if it happens on another one. So just an FYI in case it happens to you.

This will be a scheduled post, and as you are reading it, we are visiting an Ikea store about 2 hours north of us, looking for some more small Alex cabinets. Not a lot of organizational progress has been made, but at least the last Alex cabs have found a place to roost. At least for now. Do you ever feel that you've let your craft mess get to the point, where you just don't know where to start? That's ME!

Do check out the Cards by Friends tab to enjoy our latest cards. We've received several, but just haven't had time to photo and share - but I will. Promise!

Also don't forget to check out the sale going on over at DeeDee's Digis - DeeDee's shop will be closing as of December 31 and while we are very sad to hear this, if you want to get some really cute designs, at fantastic prices, better get over while these are still available.

Thanks for joining me today. God bless & Hugs. Have a wonderful day.

HLS December Christmas Challenge - Star

Welcome to the last Happy Little Stampers Christmas Challenge of 2015! This month our challenge theme is STAR.

Our Challenge Sponsor is Happy Little Stampers

The winner of December's challenge will receive this stamp

Let's get started with my first card using some created backgrounds:

- Lil Inker Stitched Stars from bkground created by rubbing DI Blueprint Sketch, directly to c/s, generous inking. Spritzed a floral stamp with some pearly spray, and did a ghost stamping over the inked paper. Didn't show up very well, so.....die cut the stars. The top right star was rolled through a crimper to give some texture. Both stars had some Delicata Silver color rubbed around. Silver paper and silver glitter paper star centers added.

- another background, sprayed with Dylusions London Blue, spritzed with a Tattered Angels gold spray. While still wet, sprinkled some white brusho crystals over it. Then die cut with a Wplus9 Starry background die (this is small, so did the first cut, then reversed the c/s and cut the other side. This left a small impression, so the rhinestone snowflakes were added to conceal this). Gold glitter paper placed behind the starry background.

- Vellum stamped with HLS Mixed Christmas Sentiments  using Delicata Silver, then heat embossed with Judikins Aegean Silver. Tiny silver stars cut with MB Precious Stars (small die); added in some of the Starry background confetti stars.

OK...I wasn't totally happy with #1 so decided to work on #2, and go for a more natural effect.

- Paper Studio Handmade Paper (VOS) covered the top fold card.

- Balsa wood 'paper' cut with the Simon Says Chisholm Wreath and very pleased to say it cut this fairly intricate die quite well on this thicker paper product. Used several passes, but it cut nicely.

- MB Precious Stars(large die) cut from some Very Old Stash old gold textured paper. I liked the texture look.

-  HLS Mixed Christmas Sentiments stamped on vellum, inked with Delicata Gold, and heat embossed with Sparkle n Sprinkle Pebbled Copper Opaque EP. This is not a detail EP, and so it didn't give the fine detail on the lettering. However, I decided to go with it as is, because it sort of goes with the 'natural' look of the rest of the card. The tiny cardinals are part of the Chisolm Wreath set, cut at the same time as the wreath.

HLS has some great stamp sets available, and I'm finding the sentiment sets to be so useful. Now do be sure to check out what my fellow DT members have shared for the HLS December Christmas challenge, and perhaps you could win this month's prize stamp set.

Thanks for visiting, and hope you enjoy both of these STAR cards! Hugs & God Bless.
